I use the term "professional" loosely, but that's what they call it. HUGE disappointment and it will be going back.
For now I had been using my cheap, plastic Wilton turntable and wanted an upgrade. I wanted a fancy, cast iron one like they use on TV. You know, all those fancy Cake Decorating shows? Anyhow, I had a 50% off coupon for Michael's and figured I'd use it. Note that this retails for $90! I should have known by the two mangled boxes they had that these had been previous returns. I got it home and assembled it (which consisted of stacking the piece on top of the base) and gave it a spin. It wobbled like crazy and was very unstable. Not really what you want in a "professional" turntable.
I should have done my research, I should have known better! After reading up on some forums it's clear that the Wilton turntable is inferior. Seems the best way to go is Ateco or Fat Daddios. I'll have to try to track those down somewhere locally before looking for them online.
I'm slighlty offended at the outrageous cost of this sub-par product. Needless to say, I'll be returning it this week.
Don't buy this one people! And do your research!
I hear ya. Turntables can be so expensive. I went for an alternative and found this. http://www.thatreallyfrostsme.com/2010/05/my-turntable-alternative.html
ReplyDeleteYou know, I was just looking at the IKEA site yesterday for something exactly like that. It was about $10, can't go wrong with that! I think I'll give it a shot and see :).
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and enjoyed reading through some of the old posts. Don't feel too bad, I think most cake decorators have bought that crappy Wilton turntable at one point in their careers. Think of it as a milestone! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenniffer! Good way to look at it, haha :).
