I made this cake for my dad's 65th birthday in early December. I was in between courses at Michael's itching to bake something...not that I needed an excuse...
The cake itself turned out a bit dry (I probably overcooked it), but the icing was deadly. It was SO good. I made way too much and Ryan and I were eating it straight out of a bowl for days afterwards. Mocha-mascarpone-chocolatey goodness. The icing was very much like a mousse, so difficult to decorate with, but I like the way it turned out overall.
